A great Asexual Romance novel that you should read is called The Romantic Agenda by Claire Kann. The main character and a secondary character both identify as asexual (aces), and this novel shares a lot of their back story as well as their present-day romances.
Author Claire Kann wrote a strong, outspoken main character in Joy, and she has no problem cutting to the chase whether it’s discussing her sexuality, negotiating her physical interactions with someone, or calling out her boss and best friend Malcolm. However, she can’t seem to get the message to him that she’s actually very much interested in him as more than a friend.
If you’re looking for a great romance, look no further than The Romantic Agenda.
I’ve never read a book that so clearly shares what it looks like to communicate with a partner about preferences and boundaries when it comes to physical interactions. Lots of romances are quick to have the main characters that immediately understand each other’s preferences without any communication, and that’s just not realistic!
I listened to this novel as an audiobook via the Libby app, and I absolutely recommend it as an audiobook as well!
