Back to school campaigns clog out the beauty of August as a smoldering summer throws forth its last hooo-rahs. Quick! Plan that picnic in the park before the schedule fills up again with sports, school, or just darker days.
I’m not sure why I’m excited about August this year, but I am.
Greetings to August!
Current Jam:
I’ve always adored this song. At first, I didn’t think it could be good that a woman was being called a “tramp” when it seems to have negative connotations. But in this song, it means a woman with her own mind.
Current Food:
Peach everything! Peaches are in season here, and we’ve had buckets upon buckets in our house. These fruits are liquid candy right now, and I just love it! Saving Room for Dessert offers this simple and delicious Peach Sherbert (try it)!
Current Must-Read:
How can I choose one must-read? And since this is my post, I’m going to share with you everything I’m reading right now (although I suspect to finish The Captive Maiden by Melanie Dickerson today).
#GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso is such an easy read. Half peptalk and half autobiography, I can see why everyone is raving about it. I’m only in the first half, though. Follow my instagram, though, if you want to see what I think of this book.
I read Erma Bombeck’s When You Look Like Your Passport Photo, It’s Time To Go Home years ago so when I saw Aunt Erma’s Cope Book on the bookshelf, I figured it was time for a bit of her tongue in cheek humor.
My dad passed All for Jesus on to me, and I’ve been reading a devotion each day. The truth are good reminders for me as I sort out again and again who I am in Christ.
Does anyone else love Delilah on night radio with her velvet voice and belief in love? She’s an icon all of her own. I think her book Love Matters is beautiful with its collection of true stories coupled with a glimpse of this woman’s integrity and desire to encourage others.
Current Obsession:
I get lost on Pinterest, but Etsy is more dangerous to me because it offers such beauty (and a few clicks later, it can be mine). I adore this case by On Your Case, and I hope to purchase it for my very old iPhone. Yes, irony.
Current Quote:
A week is not a good week unless I’ve had pizza once. I know! So terribly glutenous of me, but it’s fabulous. Come on! Carbs and dairy. Swoon.
May your August be pizza-full, jazzed, and booked!
