What I’m Being Inspired By
Ah, August. It’s you again. I almost like you best out of the summer months because yours is the summer’s end song, and I have a soft spot for sadness (and cool fall). But I’ll miss being liquid gold warm on summer days.
Current Jam:
For months, I’ve been obsessed with how this song opens. Every time I hear it, I stare out into nothing, imagining and daydreaming and wondering.
I love how the spoken story swells into music that sweeps you into the entirety of the song. Deep richness.
Current Food:
I don’t do much eating out. So when I do, I really try to get photos, and I ALWAYS order things that I’m unlikely to make myself or deem too difficult to make. This is a lumberjack burger, meaning a breakfast-inspired burger.
Twas delicious. And I’d do it again. (I admit to ordering it for two reasons: waffles and fried egg)
Current Read:
My wayfaring reader friend bestowed this book upon me when she discovered that I had not yet read Edith Wharton’s The House of Mirth. It’s been a while since I’ve read a classic so I’m thoroughly enjoying the older language.
So much so, that I was texting a friend and used the word “endeared.” I mean, how often do you hear that word around?
Current Obsession:
When your friend is arranging gorgeous bouquets, you steal all the cut off stems and shove them in a vase and proclaim your flower arrangement to be complete. Honestly, I really like how this turned out.
For the record, I didn’t use all the stems we had. There were a lot of stems!
Current Quote:
For the past two years, I’ve been on this hunt for a sustainable life, and yet, every third week or so, I’m ready to self-combust because I over-scheduled myself. I’m beginning to think that balance is an unreachable goal.
What do you think?
