Welcome to Bangkok, Thailand, the city of knotted electrical wires and perpetual traffic jams! This big city is colorful, diverse, and delicious. When I arrived to Bangkok, I had just spent a week and a half traveling through Vietnam and Laos alone. I was tapped out.
I went to Bangkok for one reason: to take circus classes at Bangkok Aerial Space. If you’re an aerialist who is looking for a home away from home while in Asia, you need to visit Bangkok Aerial Space! They’ve got great teachers and a beautiful facility.
But, thankfully, I had made a friend on the slow boat ride from Luang Prabang, Laos, to Chiang Kong, Thailand. He traveled through Bangkok on his way home, and he made sure that I got out to explore some of the Bangkok food! So I’m sharing with you where he took me!’
Bangkok, Thailand: 3 Delicious Places to Eat
Food Sky
If you love street food but you’d like a bit of air conditioning to make your eating experience more comfortable, seek out Food Sky! This tiny hole-in-the-wall restaurant offers a menu full of amazing Thai foods, but also, it might be a little hard to read the menu since they don’t have it in English. But maybe show them a picture of this crispy pork and Chinese kale because this is what I absolutely recommend! It’s amazing!

Supanniga Eating Room
If you’d like a more upscale food experience, the Supanniga Eating Room is sure to please! The decor and vibe of the restaurant are decidedly western with a vein of Eastern influence. The waitstaff had no problem switching to English for my benefit. While expensive by Thai standards, it’s fairly reasonable if you’re used to the costs of the United States or Europe.

The Commons
If you’re needing something that offers western comforts, The Commons is a gorgeous shopping center with a stunning layout, plenty of food options, and shopping too. You could easily spend a few hours here just sampling all the specialty foods available. This place offered a bit of calm in the chaos of the Bangkok streets and sidewalks.

If you have a sweet tooth, this ice cream shop MUST be visited. As I have a mouth full of sweet teeth, this was one of the places that my friend knew he had to take me. My only complaint is that the serving sizes were TINY. But, the ice cream was absolutely amazing.
If you love cooked sugar, you gotta stop at Dolly Churro. They make them fancy. They make them plain. You can also get fancy with your dipping sauces. I did not regret one single bite of these amazing churros.
Bangkok, Thailand, is a city I would definitely love to return to again because I know that I didn’t even brush the surface of good to be found there. Mostly because all I wanted to do while I was there was train aerial, work, and rest. I loved traveling alone, but it takes a lot of stamina to be constantly caring for yourself (even basic necessities can feel so much harder).
But these food places are definitely recommended!!
