At the beginning of every new month, I try to share some inspiration with you. Which means I have to think about it… What’s inspiring? What makes me want to jump out of bed on a Monday morning? Not much these days, but hey, it’s only a phase, right?
It’s good to share inspiration (this is why I’m addicted to Pinterest and perhaps a little bit to Instagram, too). So I’ll share what’s inspiring me this April, but I’d love if you’d share your inspirations, too!
Current Jam:
So you may start wondering if I ever love truly happy music. I do. I promise, but I really just seem to enjoy sad or emotionally thoughtful music more. This has been on repeat for a while. I have some huge life transitions coming up in the next month (which is totally wrecking my sleep), and so I really relate to these lyrics. Of course, I’m not even sure who I would direct those words to…God? me?
Current Read:
It took only the first sentence of chapter 1 of Out of Sorts: Making Peace with an Evolving Faith for me to decide that I needed to read this book. That sentence resonated so strongly with me that I figured the rest of the book would too. And, gosh, it has. I almost don’t want to read it because I don’t want to finish reading it.
Chapter 1, Sentence 1:
“Once upon a time, you had it all beautifully sorted out.
Then you didn’t.”
Current Food:
When will I stop choosing Paella? Great question. I keep posting this same picture everywhere because it was THAT good. One of my friends objects to the dish because of its “sea bugs” but I just love it. And you don’t have to have it with seafood! I’ve had a great chorizo version, too! Oh, it so heavenly.
Current Obsession:
If you have never listened to a TEDtalk, get thyself over to the Ted.com website. I’m obsessed. It’s like an espresso shot of learning. It’s a hub of incredible thinkers, doers, artists, and more. Celeste’s talk above has instigated a couple of changes that I’m trying to make to the way I make conversation with others. Honesty moment: I’m terrible at staying on topic. You mention your desire to do some spring cleaning, and my mind whirls away to a story from my cousin’s last spring cleaning and then I share it, rather than staying on topic with you. I want to change that.
Quote for Today:
I tend to think courage is LOUD, but I’m beginning to sense that it’s the quiet strength that really makes a difference in the world. It’s the person who just keeps going and doing, rather than trying to yell attention to themselves to gain followers or whatever other shenanigan they want to encourage. Know your goals, and bend your hand to them.
Current Fun:
And, guyyyyyyyyyyyysssss, the warm weather is coming. Do what the Austrians (and everyone) do and go outside. If you don’t have kids, then go outside and play anyway.
Watch out for the signs that put age limits on fun (or ignore them).
I have this goal to walk on my hands someday. I’m still not there. But I will be soon, I think!
May you be inspired by your inner child to run, laugh, and play like you haven’t since winter crystallized the world.
