I love eating. Always have. Always will. And so yes, I’m that person who wants to visit a new city, and I just want to eat my way through it while seeing all the pretty and touristy things. When a group of friends and I hit up NYC a few weekends ago, we hit some delicious food places.
Because I think sharing food is caring, I’m going to give you a weekend taste of NYC! You better believe it included pizza and ice cream (multiple times). Don’t you judge me. You’d do the same!
Food to Eat: A Weekend Taste of NYC
We rolled into town late on a Friday night, and even though it was late, we jumped on the Staten Island ferry and headed into town. (oh my gosh I loved the Staten Island ferry)
Prince Street Pizza
When we arrived at Prince Street Pizza at like WAY-past-my-bedtime o’clock, we encountered a line. Not just any line, it was a line at least 20 people long. Though that line didn’t excite us, we joined the crowd. And boy, was it worth it.
It was entertaining to see new people arrive to the line and be like, “Yo, this line. Is it worth it?” We had just asked ourselves the same thing. That is until we got our pizza.
Then, it was ALL worth it.
Meanwhile, let’s just flaunt all the famous people who’ve grabbed a slice at this shop. Any pizza shop that is any pizza shop definitely had the wall of fame going on.
Just LOOK at that pizza–the thickness, the crispiness, the stacks of pepperoni, and the oozing cheese grease. It was worth everything.
And you know, just to finish off the night, we definitely went to another pizza shop and indulged in thin crust pizza. And it was just the happiest night of my life.
Vanessa’s Dumplings
Once again, we arrived to a crowded shop. People crammed in line, and people sitting in all the seats. And loud noises, but delicious smells.
But feed me all the dumplings!
Freshly cooked, it was hard to eat slow enough to not burn the roof of my mouth (again). Yeah, because I had burned my mouth already on the pizza.
Taiyaki Ice Cream
I thought ice cream could only come in your generic cone. BUT I WAS SO WRONG. Enter Taiyaki ice cream, where soft serve is piled into a fish-shaped cone. Could anything be more wonderful?
Oh! How about that cone can be filled with cream or red bean curd? Yeah, the red bean curd was an unpleasant surprise my first bite, and I made sure to get a cream one the next time.
Once again, we met a line. And this time, a worker came and moderated the line so that the door of the shop wouldn’t be constantly open.
And you know, I couldn’t make up my mind so I ordered two things. Because why not! AND I DID NOT REGRET IT AT ALL.
Mannnnn, I loved this place so much that it was way too easy to talk my friends into returning the very next day!
S’Mac
Do you love mac ‘n cheese? YES, same. Okay, so it’s not just for kids anymore (or was it ever really?). NYC has S’Mac, a restaurant devoted completely to this elbow pasta and cheese. What could be better?
Maybe, going with two friends who are a bit lactose intolerant but don’t care…!
The decor was just the cutest. And I loved catching this picture with a yellow cab driving by at the very right moment.
As much as I wanted to order a medium size cast iron of mac ‘n cheese, I chose the smallest option. And guys, for once, I made the right choice! It was the perfect size, and I was able to then help my friends eat their medium-sized portions. Tehehehe.
One of my favorite ways to travel includes eating. I find such joy and comfort and fun in flavor so I loved this NYC weekend of all the eating. And I didn’t even show you all the different types of pizza we had because, guys, we had pizza EVERY day (and ice cream too).
If you ever go to NYC, please go to Taiyaki Ice cream for me, okay? OKAY.
