Hello, December! I do love December–it carries an aura of expectation, endings, and seasonal cheer. Here, it smells of frost and crunches like salt under the boot. As an introspective person, I like to stand in December and stare back at the rest of the year. Do you have any rituals for the end of the year? A new year?
Also, I want to give a quick little life update. On December 1st, I had my Book Launch and Art Gallery Pop-up Party, and during the end of November, I was dealing with one of those intense colds that fling you onto your back and leave you there, struggling to breathe through the congestion. This is why I haven’t posted in weeks.
Poor planning. I’m sorry.
Anyway, without further ado, here’s some of the stuff that’s inspiring me right now! I hope your December is filled with friends, family, laughter, and love.
What I’m Being Inspired By
Current Jam:
Ludovico Einaudi. I keep finding more and more of his music that I love. Somedays, I realize that I’ve spent literal hours listening to his music, and I never got bored. If you’re looking for cozy yet calming tunes to inspire your dark winter night reading, I think you should listen to Ludovico Einaudi!
Current Food:
Cookies. For the book launch party, we had an amazing spread of cookies. And the best part has been chowing down on the leftover cookies this week. I’m trying to pace myself at only two cookies a day…but by this photo, you know I didn’t stick to that.
Current Read:
Take two. A few months ago, I gave book 1 a try, and I liked it. So here I am reading book 2. Due to the pace of my life, I’ve struggled to read it as fast as I usually would so I’m feeling like a bad reader! Does anyone else feel that way ever?
Current Obsession:
I am obsessed with this photo because it captures me in one of my favorite outfits to date while I’m reading from my own book to a bunch of friends who came out to celebrate Teal Paisley Tights and me. It was such a surreal moment!
Crazy enough: a year ago, on December 6th, I signed the contract that turned my manuscript into a published novel!
Current Quote:
I read this quote a few weeks ago, and it made me stop. And breathe it in again. To live such a life, you need to know your dreams, and then you have to be brave enough to chase them…and often, it’ll be scary. And more often, you won’t have a map. But you have to go anyway.
Dear friends, it’s the end of 2018! What’s inspiring you? Do you have a song that takes away your tears? Or a food that makes your toes curl? Has something surprised a laugh out of you?
