This little postage stamp of a town is adorable. The old city town centre just captures your imagination and makes you wonder if this isn’t some sort of dramatic creation just to attract tourists (it’s got this storybook quality). The buildings remind me of gingerbread houses.
Just don’t take a bite. I’m pretty sure they’re cement and old wood. Yum.
This was my second time in Mosbach, and I have to admit that I couldn’t explore as much as I would have preferred. Both times I was in this town, it was for a company conference. The first time I was a participant, and this time I was in charge of the children’s program.
If you decide ever to visit this cute, little town, my main suggestions to you are as follows.
Wander the streets
My friend and I meandered away from the centre of town and cut down little alleys until we awkwardly found ourselves in someone’s backyard and then again in someone’s personal driveway (there was a guy just smoking his pipe watching us). But it was a hilarious maze of streets, showing how a town just grew, without order or regulation.
Pop into a cafe
There are so many options. The first one I went into was across from the little child wooden viking ship, but I can’t remember the name of the cafe (no amount of googling helped me out) nor did I take a picture of the cafe (what was I thinking?!).
Make sure you try some cake.
Mosbacher Brauhaus
This is a local brewery that has hearty food to offer alongside of their own brews. Just don’t be like my friend who asked the waiter, “Do you have anything local?”
He looked at her and nodded to the huge brewing cannisters behind her.
Oh. We laughed. We all laughed hard over that exchange.
But apart from the food and drink, the building is once again just a beautiful one with a lovely decor that speaks to the heritage of the area. Basically, you should go.
Find this dude and take pictures with him!
Happy Travels!
