SOS, we’re collectively going crazy!?!?! Okay, so we know that we were already crazy before COVID-19 slammed into our realities, altering the way we do life. What a crazy challenge! What an unexpected opportunity to evaluate all the reasons we do the things we do. (Let’s be honest if we’d been offered this option, I think most of us would have been like, “nah, I don’t really want this enforced retreat from life.”)
We all want like a 2-week vacation, but not a few month quarantine…
Come on, I had plans.
What I’m Being Inspired By
Current Jam:
Something about the sound of this song haunts me. It digs deep somehow. It’s filled with abandon yet disconnection, and it’s captured my attention quietly and totally. Moreover, the official music video with the dancing grabs me too. How is it that music does this???
Current Food:
I think we’ve all been in this space where we’re coping in the best ways we know how, searching for new crafts and new foods and indulging ourselves…because this is hard and different and forced upon us. If you know me, then you know that I love sugar. I have a coworker who tells me often that he doesn’t know anyone who talks about sugar as much as I do. But, while I’ve been loving sugar (as per usual), I’d like to present to you the savory waffle!
The savory waffle is a special kind of magic. Choose a waffle recipe that doesn’t include sugar in the batter (duh), then top your waffle with your favorite savory options such as sausage, mustard, sauteed onions! Or slap a hamburger patty on top of your waffle. Deliciousness.
Current Read:
Phew, Untamed by Glennon Doyle is probably my most underlined and highlighted book of 2020 yet. Every chapter is written with such candor with these crazy, insightful life analysis. And I think it’s changing my life. Honestly. It calls to the wild within me — the wild that I’ve chained up and caged for years.
Current Obsession:
Cinnamon. Please don’t be shocked. But I just love cinnamon. I’ve even doused my coffee grounds with cinnamon for a spicy cup of coffee (thank you, Jenly, for that suggestion!). I top my yogurt with cinnamon (sometimes with honey, sometimes not). Waffles, ice cream,…it’s literally ALL fair game. I’m constantly looking for ways to include cinnamon in my eating, wherever I can.
Current Quote:
Is it weird if I quote myself? Perhaps. But I’ve been thinking a lot about growth and grief…these two so often go hand-in-hand. When I grow, I often grieve the loss of something. And when I grieve, I often meet growth along the way. And well, as much as I love growth, it can be painful, and I’m so much more likely to growl than to easily embrace the grrrrrowth or grrrrief.
