November, this year, felt weird to me because as I’m traveling through Asia, I was experiencing temperatures in the 80s and 90s. And to me, that was fabulous. While I adore all the seasons, I’m a cold-blooded lizard, and once cold temps hit, my hands and feet are like icicles about 98% of the time.
So Southeast Asia offered a wonderful respite from the Autumn temperatures, and I still got to enjoy delicious pumpkin spice lattes (because I can drink hot drinks in hot temperatures).
What I’m Being Inspired By
Current Jam:
As I “step out” into all sorts of adventures, the soundtrack of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and LaLaLand have been my constant companions. Something about these soundtracks invite adventure and romance into my life. And let me clarify on romance–romance happens can be a part of your life with or without a partner.
Current Food:
I’ve eaten SO much good food as I’ve journeyed through Asia, and today, I feel like highlighting the dragonfruit (also called pitaya) because it was such a surprise. It was in a fruit salad I had while in Laos, and I had no idea what it was but it was delicious. It comes in white and maroon varieties!
My one complaint is WHY CAN’T THIS BE WIDELY AVAILABLE in America?
Current Read:
I picked up On The Bright Side from a book store in Chiang Rai, Thailand. I love quirky reads from the perspective of octogenarians. I’m not sure what delights me so much, but I just can’t help it.
Oh, and if you click and buy this book from the link, I will get a tiny commission from Amazon.
Current Obsession:
Not only am I obsessed with this photo (hello, I’m the holder of god chins), but I was so fascinated by Angkor Wat. While some decry this UNESCO World Heritage site as overrated, it’s history and very breadth intrigued me. One temple took a thousand years to complete. A THOUSAND YEARS. That some serious dedication of generations of humans to build a temple that has gone through a conversion from Hinduism to Buddhism.
Current Quote:
People ask me why I’m traveling, and it’s because I want to. And while it’s been frustrating at some points, it’s been a wonderful adventure. I’ve loved seeing people living their lives. As uncomfortable as it is to be a fish out of water, I like it.
