I think Autumn is a time for looking back. Is it how the fresh leaves glow hued in death? Maybe it’s the chill breeze on my flesh and the changing wardrobe?
The laughing, sun-colored days of summer have settled into earlier darkness. That’s where we’ve come from, but where are we going now?
Here are a few things to delight your September.
Current Jam:
Electronic with siren-voiced vocals. Dance-y and yet haunting. I tend to just allow YouTube to create random playlists for me to listen to. Most of the time, songs are only background, but this song burst through the noise of my brain and captured my attention. And the music video was not what I expected.
Current Food:
I subscribe to the e-magazine of Real Simple. Can I just tell you that I LOVE this magazine? And no, I’m not getting anything to tell you that. When I saw this easy dinner, I knew I wanted to try it. The recipe was insanely easy and divinely good. Best of all: I felt great after gorging myself on this meal.
Current Must-Read:
If you can’t tell, let me assure you that The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out The Window And Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson is worth every word of that title. Here’s a guy who could be every writer’s secondary character, and yet, he hangs out with world leaders, an elephant, petty criminals, and climbs the Himalayas. It’s zany. It’s weird. But it’s laugh out loud good.
Current Obsession:
I’m almost an ear piercing junkie. And I’ve been dreaming of a ring to wear in my conch piecing. I had a really beautiful hoop, but in a lake tussle, I lost it to the murky mud. Time to try something without a clasp. But you can order a pair of these hoops to wear in your lobes, too!
Current Quote:
So here we are.
A month that many of us have seen before, maybe for many years or for very few. Some Septembers fade from memory while others stand memorable for the whole of our lives.
As the leaves fall from the trees, what should you be letting fall from your life, too? Is it forgiveness for another person’s actions? Is it one of your many activities so you have rest time? Is it too heavy expectations for yourself?
May you have the eyes to see the change in the leaves and in your own heart as you pursue open-handed living.
